About the use of Law School Library

Eligible person
  • 4 elements of Sophia University Law school (Faculties of law School, Graduate students of law School, Faculties in law department, and graduate students of law department) can use this library preferentially without entrance procedure.
  • If you are not 4 elements listed above, you can use this library if material you need is held only in this library. You need to go following entrance procedure; \1. Present your student ID card when you enter the library \2. Stop at circulation counter and check material you needed

1. Check-out

Please check out materials at the circulation counter.

■Materials listed below cannot be checked out;
  • Reference materials
  • Periodicals (both current and bound)
  • Newspaper
  • KIYO
  • AV materials * AV materials are held at the Audio-Visual corner on the first floor of Central Library.

2. Check-out reserve book

Reserve book is a book designated by professor for class use. It is kept inside the circulation counter.

How to use reserve book

  • Please tell circulation counter staff the name of professor and the title of the book you would like to use.
  • Loan period of reserve book is classified into 3; Library use only, 1 day or 3 days.
  • You can borrow up to 4 reserve books. This is distinguished from usual check-out.
  • Reserve books cannot be reserved nor renewed.

3. Loan period, Number of books that may be borrowed

  Number of books Loan period
Faculty and staff 30 90 days
Part-time faculty/ Graduate students 20 30 days
Undergraduate students 10 14 days

*If you keep books beyond the due date, your borrowing privileges suspended as many days as the books are overdue.

4. Renewal of loan period

You can renew book you borrowed for one more period. Please follow either procedure;

■You cannot renew book if ;

  • Books are overdue
  • Your borrowing privileges suspended
  • Book is reserved by someone else
  • You request renewal for more than once repeatedly

5. Book return

Please note for following when you return book;

  • Return books to the Book Return box at circulation counter or library entrance.
  • Put materials to the book trucks after you use them in the library.

6. Reservation

You can reserve a book which has been checked out.

How to reserve a book

  • Use My OPAC online service. (See Check out/Return 9.My OPAC online service)
  • Notify you by sending email and posting reservation form to the bulletin board beside the circulation counter after the book you requested is returned. Please pick the form and bring it to the circulation counter. Staff will keep the book for a week.
  • Please offer circulation counter staff immediately if you cancel the reservation.

7. Lost book

If you lose(damage/ worn) book, please follow the procedure;

  • Fill out Lost Material Form and submit it to the circulation counter.
  • After you submit the form, please bring in the same material you lost for its replacement. If material is out of print, you need to pay the same amount of material.
  • Your borrowing privileges will be suspended until the procedure is completed.

8. Other information

  • Consultation on how to use materials (Weekdays 9:00~17:00) ※We will answer your questions related to library materials or databases to a maximum extent.
  • Consultation on book purchase. ※Law school students can submit “Book purchase request form” if material you need is not in the collection of Law school library(whether Central library holds or not) and recognized as needed material for Law school library. ※We will notify you the result (kept 1 week after request is accepted and the book is delivered) at bulletin board in library.
  • Window of Inter-Library cooperation ※For issuance of letter of introduction, request for photocopy from other institutes, and book delivery service, please apply at reference counter on 1st floor in Central library.
